Meet the Faces Behind the Magic:
Get to know your ABS team!

Shauntel Moreno
My name is Shauntel, although my family lovingly calls me Tells. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, while working in an Administrative and Operations, role at American Behavioral Solutions. My immediate family includes my husband and our three beautiful daughters. In my free time, I enjoy staying active by practicing yoga and Pilates, , and I love spending quality time with my family, especially during family barbecues.
What I enjoy most about working at ABS is the strong sense of family and the positive workplace culture. I truly appreciate the organization's commitment to always putting the best interests of our clients first. During my time here, I hope to continue growing professionally, expanding my knowledge and skills, and advancing into higher-level administrative and operations roles. Being part of ABS allows me to contribute to a team that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families every day, and I look forward to continuing that journey.

Celina Vicente
My name is Celina, although my friends lovingly call me Cely. If I had to choose a favorite meal, nothing compares to a bowl of homemade soup prepared by my grandmother. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Sciences. Before moving to the United States, I spent ten years working at a school for students who are deaf and blind. It was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life, where I learned to write in Braille and communicate using sign language. That chapter of my career strengthened my passion for serving others and reinforced my belief that every person learns and communicates in their own unique way.
My greatest treasure is my family. I am the proud mother of three children—two daughters and one son—who inspire me every day to continue growing both personally and professionally. In my free time, I enjoy reading because it allows me to keep learning, and I also love going for walks, which help me clear my mind, reflect, and recharge.
What I value most about working at ABS is the opportunity to serve and support others. Knowing that our work has a positive impact on the lives of children and their families gives true purpose to everything I do each day. During my time at ABS, I hope to continue learning, growing professionally, and contributing my best to support our clients, families, community, and team. I firmly believe that we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us, starting with ourselves.

ABS News and Activities
This month, we encourage our team to intentionally create opportunities for learners to practice skills beyond the original teaching setting. Whether it's using communication skills with a new therapist, following directions at home, or practicing social skills in the community, every opportunity strengthens independence.
Tips for Promoting Generalization
- Practice skills in different environments (clinic, home, community).
- Encourage interactions with different people.
- Use a variety of materials and activities.
- Reinforce the skill across multiple settings.
- Collaborate with caregivers to encourage practice outside of sessions.
This month, all team members are required to complete the "Increasing Positive Behavior" learning path.
This training focuses on evidence-based strategies for encouraging positive behaviors through proactive teaching, reinforcement, and consistent support. By strengthening these skills, we can create more engaging learning environments and help our clients build meaningful, lasting behaviors.
Please complete this training before the end of August 2026.
ABS Community Foundation is proud to present the Arizona premiere of My Daughter Is an Astronaut, an inspiring one-woman show by actress, author, and neurodivergent mother Claudia Valdés.
Through humor, resilience, and hope, this powerful performance celebrates neurodiversity and reminds us that every challenge can become an opportunity to grow.
- Herberger Theater Center - Stage West
- Thursday, August 6, 2026
- Show begins at 8:00 PM
Stay tuned to ABS Community and Claudia Valdés Oficial on social media for ticket information and event updates!
Growth begins with understanding ourselves. This month, we're creating a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the experiences that have shaped who we are today. Through interactive activities and meaningful discussions, we'll explore how nurturing our inner child can strengthen emotional well-being, self-compassion, and our connections with others.
Craft Day in ABS
Date: August 19, 2026
Activity: Fruit Basket Paper Plate Craft
Materials Needed:
- Small paper plates (1 per child)
- Washable paint (green or preferred basket color)
- Paintbrushes
- Orange ribbon or construction paper strips (for the basket handle)
- Glue or tape
- Safety scissors
- Printed fruit images (watermelon, banana, orange, strawberry, cherries, etc.) cut out in advance
- Crayons or markers (optional, if children will color the fruit before cutting)
- Hole punch (optional, for attaching the handle with ribbon)
- Prepare the Materials: Provide each child with a paper plate, paint, brushes, an orange ribbon (or paper strip) for the handle, and pre-cut or printable fruit images. If using black-and-white printables, allow children to color the fruit before assembling.
- Paint the Basket: Have children paint the inside of the paper plate to resemble a basket (green was used in the sample, but any color can be used). Allow the paint to dry.
- Decorate with Fruit: Once the plate is dry, let children glue the printed fruit cutouts inside the basket. Encourage them to arrange the fruit however they like to create a colorful fruit basket.
- Attach the Handle: Glue, tape, or staple the orange ribbon (or paper strip) to each side of the paper plate to create the basket handle. If using ribbon, a hole punch can be used to make the handle more secure.
- Display or Take Home: Once everything is dry, children can carry their fruit basket or take it home as a fun seasonal craft.
Kindness has the power to brighten someone's day, and even change it.
On August 22, we celebrate Be an Angel Day, a reminder that small acts of compassion, encouragement, and generosity can make a lasting impact. Whether it's offering a helping hand to a coworker, sharing words of encouragement with a family, or simply making someone smile, every thoughtful gesture matters.
At ABS, we see these "angel moments" every day through the care, patience, and dedication our team shows to the children and families we serve.
To celebrate together, we invite everyone to dress up as an angel on August 21 at their center! Feel free to wear angel wings, halos, white clothing, or any fun angel-inspired accessories as we spread kindness and positivity throughout the day.
Let's celebrate the power of kindness, one angel at a time!
Caring for Yourself to Better Support Others: Preventing Burnout and Using Positive Reinforcement to Build Consistent Interventions
Supporting a child starts with supporting yourself. Join us as we explore practical strategies for preventing caregiver burnout while learning how positive reinforcement can strengthen consistency in everyday interventions.
This session will focus on recognizing signs of burnout, prioritizing self-care without guilt, and using positive reinforcement to create supportive, encouraging environments that foster meaningful progress for children and families.
We look forward to learning and growing together as we build healthier routines-for ourselves and for those we support.
Sunshine, sand, and smiles, it's time to celebrate National Beach Day! While not everyone may be heading to the coast, this day is a great reminder to enjoy the outdoors, recharge, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
On August 31, we'll be celebrating Beach Day at our centers! All ABS family are encouraged to join the fun by wearing their favorite beach accessories, think sunglasses, hats, leis, buckets, or other beach-themed items, and come ready to participate in a fun activity.
Life's a beach, let's enjoy the waves together!
